How sick am I?

As a college Senior I should be defenestrating myself but instead I am amused. I don’t have a political party even though I’m registered republican (because don’t touch my money) and I didn’t vote for either candidate.

Not saying this is what will happen but... As a college senior, you should be incredibly concerned about the changes in the markets yesterday and what that could signify for the economy in the next few years. If you don’t already have a job lined up... be prepared for the possibility that it could become much harder to find one.

You should probably care, either way. Thumbing your nose at people and saying “don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos!” does not mean that the election result doesn’t impact you!

e: I agree that people could very well be overreacting. But to assume you shouldn’t be concerned at all is, uh, not good.

As an accounting major change is not the biggest deal. Also the markets changed but the markets just don’t like uncertainty which is exactly what they got. The markets will go back to normal and it’ll be fine.

I care about it but as I said in the title everything is just an overreaction. I was actually more worried about Clinton effect on the economy then Trumps.

What region? Metro-Detroit is scooping up engineers as fast as they graduate, I am a little over two years out of school now but quit one engineering job and had two offers within a matter of days.

Chicago, Detroit, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio are all gonna be good places to look, as much of the automotive industry and automotive aftermarket is located in that Great Lakes region.

I work in the commercial real estate investment industry and as part of my work keep a pretty close track on financial and economic data. One day’s worth of readings in the stock market is generally useless unless it’s a catastrophic (read crash of 1929) drop. The markets are always skittish and unwelcoming to change so they’ll react accordingly.

In what way? I don’t see cars overturned or buildings burning? That would be over-reacting. Otherwise, I think that everyone’s reaction is fairly congruent with the events of this morning. Make no mistake, we’ve just set our country back decades. Our President-elect thinks that global warming is a hoax for fuck’s sake. It’s like I’ve stepped into the fucking twilight zone.

I wouldn’t worry much. I’m an aerodynamicist who weathered the 2008 mess and we’re all still here. Hell, that was such a fiasco that the US taxpayer was actually convinced to kill a large part of the US aerospace industry, which made a majority of it’s jet money exporting airplanes! That’s exactly the kind of business you want to maintain in a downturn!!!
